Buti® Yoga Basics 4-Week Series - Get ready to take a deep dive into BUTI theory with Adrienne, BUTI Yoga Master Trainee! This 4-week series is timed just right to get your foundational BUTI practice firmly in place before the potential chaos of the holiday season. In 4 consecutive Saturdays, Adrienne will cover BUTI history, style and meaning, Class Structure, Kundalini energy and the energetic body. You’ll explore the nature and reasoning behind Spiral Structure Technique®, learn core muscular structure and how to get those trademark BUTI abs. We’ll learn how and why the galvanizing practice of BUTI is considered yoga and how the 6,000 year old practice is so closely related to traditional Eastern yoga. Adrienne will take you through asana, yogic movement and transitions expected in a full length BUTI class. She will then close the series out with a high energy movement sesh dedicated to tribal dance, primal movement, musicality and glute isolation techniques. Each class in the series will consist of 40 minutes of learning followed by 45 minutes of movement. At the end of the series you will be prepared to move, feel and release in BUTI yoga with confidence, allowing the magic of the practice to flow uninhibited. Let your BUTI transformation begin. Want to explore yoga for the first time or brush up on your practice? This Beginners Series will be light-hearted and provide a safe, fun space to explore the many poses of yoga and how to “flow” in a yoga class. Clara will guide the class through not only proper alignment, but finding the best alignment for your body. The class will learn about and practice foundational yoga poses, such as upward salute, the three warrior poses, triangle, extended side angle, and balancing poses. We will also use yoga props, like blocks, blankets, bolsters, and straps to get a deeper stretch and better balance in a variety of poses.

Clara, a Soul Strong Yoga teacher and writer, is passionate about bringing yoga to all people, all bodies, and all levels. She is honored to introduce students to the amazing health benefits yoga provides for both the body and mind in a small group setting.

Julie is a holistic health coach trained from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition where she gained a greater appreciation for the healing benefits of balance in areas of nutrition, spirituality, career, relationships and physical activity. Julie’s experience is shaped from a background in occupational therapy, which has always been her inspiration in using a whole-person and compassionate approach with her clients. Julie is currently working on a masters degree in Nutrition and Integrative Health and works with people 1:1 who are experiencing burnout, fatigue and anxiety, who multi-task and try to fit too much into the day sacrificing self-care. Her mission is to help people eliminate burnout and exhaustion so that they can bring joy and energy back into their daily lives.

Julie, Soul Strong Yoga co-owner, is bringing a very special Mala Making Workshop. At the workshop, we will create beautiful malas out of natural stone and silk thread. Julie will share a brief history of mala making and how to infuse your personal mala with joy and intention. We will a

lso take time to discuss the meaningful uses of your mala necklace and how it can be a beautiful tool in your meditation practice.

If you let us know by December 1st, you may select which of the following beads you'd like to use. Otherwise, you will choose from what is available at the workshop. Please only pick one from the selection below, and email us your choice after your ticket purchase at info@soulstrongyogatx.com. We have the samples at our studio for you to see:

Have you wanted to try a BUTI class, and found yourself curious, but too intimidated to try? Are you an experienced BUTI practitioner who is just looking to reconnect with your practice? Or maybe you just love the Soul Strong vibe, trust their offerings and want to try something new. In the NEW BUTI 101 WORKSHOP we will touch on all aspects of BUTI, working to remove the mystique and expose the accessibility.

BUTI is a Marathi Indian word meaning the cure to something lost or hidden. BUTI Yoga is a soulful blend of power yoga, cardio-intensive tribal dance, conditioning and DEEP abdominal toning. It also facilitates complete inner transformation. Students AND Teachers are encouraged to let go of their minds and get into their bodies.

In BUTI we use Spiral Structure Technique and shaking to release dormant energy stores in the body and intuitively guided movement through asana to reunite mind, body and spirit. This energetic work and movement can initially seem intimidating and inaccessible, but in the BUTI 101 Workshop, Adrienne will teach you the hows, whys and history of BUTI, breaking down the mechanics behind Spiral Structure Technique, static shaking, chakra balancing through movement, native footwork, HIIT training, asana/yoga poses and all other BUTI essentials.

We will spend the first half of the workshop introducing and review technique. The second half of the workshop will be dedicated to movement as we incorporate workshop content in a full BUTI class where Adrienne will pay special attention to student alignment and where questioning during movement is welcome! Whether you’re new to “vinyasa flow” or a long-time practitioner looking to brush up on your alignment, this 2 hour workshop is for you. If you’ve been to a drop-in class, you’ve probably heard an instructor cue, “Now move through your vinyasa.” Well, in this workshop Clara Hayes will break down what the heck we mean by that! While vinyasas are often repeated throughout class, they’re also one of the easiest areas to fall into unsafe alignment. Our goal is to send you out the door with the knowledge to sustain your vinyasa practice for life! We’ll start with some discussion around the history and concepts behind vinyasa flow. Then, we’ll move into a dynamic practice to warm up the body before we break down the vinyasa, as well as the full Sun Salutations A & B. Lots of modifications will be provided for every pose!

Refresh for Spring: Yin Yoga and Sound Healing for the Season

Both Yang and Yin aspects are needed to function properly in our lives and in our yoga practice. Rather than finding dynamic movement in and out of postures, like we experience in our flow or Yang practices, the Yin practice is grounding and slow. Yin and sound practices, paired with “yoga medicine” for the spring season, can create a mini-retreat for the body and can be transformative for the nervous system.

Join Jessica for a 90-minute practice that includes Yin yoga and pranayama (i.e. breath work) sequenced especially for the spring season. Alfonso will be leading our first Beginners Yoga Workshop in Spanish. Soul Strong Yoga and Alfonso would love to help you begin and refine your yoga journey. Yoga is truly a universal language. In this class, we will explore proper yogic breathing, alignment, and names of yoga's foundational poses. Alfonso will bring his expansive knowledge of alignment and yoga to a fun, relaxed setting in our studio. Invite your friends! Yoga mats, water, and towels are provided. All levels.

This class is in Spanish. Spanish speakers welcome, as well as friends who would like to improve their Spanish or have a unique experience in a yoga class.

Ready to see the world from a different perspective? Join Jackie, aka @thegirlwiththecarrottattoo, for a two-hour inversion workshop at Soul Strong Yoga. Our inversion workshop will begin with a one-hour flow practice to warm up our bodies, so we're ready to safely lift our feet off the ground. In the second hour, we will explore and try inverted poses, such as chin stand, 8 angle, handstand and eka pada koundinyasana.
