Welcoming Words from Our Lead 300-Hour Trainer, Julie Afsahi

dscf0114

I am so honored that you are considering our 300-hour advanced teacher training! We are a program rooted in the philosophical roots of Pantajali’s Yoga Sutras and trauma-informed yoga. A common thread throughout all of our curriculum is that one always work towards finding a balance of steadiness and comfort, based on the sutra 2.46, “sthira sukham asanam.” We also discuss the evolution of asana using both traditional perspectives, mostly from the lineage of Krishmacharya and his students, but we also include modern yoga asana research, too! We honor the roots of yoga, but find much inspiration from modern social justice movements in yoga!

Soul Strong Yoga’s trainings and business model are founded on trauma-informed, accessible yoga. In this 300-hour program, we will consistently teach through the lens of accessible yoga for all people. This does not mean that we limit our program to one form of yoga or another! Rather it is the opposite! We study many forms of asana, including various forms of Vinyasa (Power, Gentle, Heated, etc.), Restorative, and Yin, and work on how to offer group classes to fit the needs of diverse people. In addition, we work on tailoring asana to the individual practitioner as well seeking a one-on-one experience.

Our 300-hour program is a very interactive experience, meaning you will be actively collaborating and teaching. It is a high-quality collaborative program, in which we cheer one another on to take risks, co-create new practices, lean on one another, and grow together. You will be challenged to teach and offer feedback to one another in a safe, loving environment.

Can’t wait to meet you! Reach out to me if you have questions or want to set up tea/call.

Much love,

Julie, 500 E-RYT
